As part of the JST’s work supporting Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction, Amplifying Ukrainian Voices in the UK brings together Ukrainian women leaders and community organisers from across the UK to strengthen connections, exchange experience, and support more inclusive and cohesive communities. 

Delivered by the Just Society Trust in partnership with Voices Gloucester, the programme creates a space for Ukrainian women to share their experiences and expertise, develop their leadership, and explore how their work can contribute to social cohesion, social justice, and stronger connections between Ukrainian and British communities. 

The programme reflects the people-to-people dimension of the UK–Ukraine 100-Year Partnership, recognising that Ukraine’s long-term recovery depends not only on rebuilding institutions and infrastructure, but also on strong, connected communities and the active participation of citizens.

Participants will take part in a two-day leadership and knowledge-exchange programme bringing together Ukrainian women from across the JST and Voices Gloucester networks. 

Through facilitated discussions, peer learning, storytelling and collaborative exercises, participants will: 

• share experiences and insights from displacement, adaptation and community leadership; 
• explore the role of dialogue, participation and social justice in building inclusive societies; 
• exchange knowledge and strengthen connections across Ukrainian communities in the UK; 
• develop ideas for initiatives that promote cultural understanding, communication and social cohesion; and 
• identify opportunities for collaboration between Ukrainian and British communities. 

The programme builds on work participants are already leading in their communities, helping them strengthen its reach, develop new connections and translate learning into practical action. 

Following the programme, participants will have the opportunity to develop initiatives in three interconnected areas: 

Arts, Culture and Heritage

Supporting the preservation and sharing of Ukrainian culture and heritage while creating opportunities for cultural exchange. 

Communication, Dialogue and Public Understanding

Creating opportunities for people to share experiences, challenge assumptions and build greater understanding between communities. 

Social Cohesion, Inclusion and Community Participation

Strengthening relationships, participation and mutual support within and across Ukrainian and local communities. 

The programme recognises the important contribution of Ukrainian women to the resilience and development of communities in the UK and Ukraine. By creating opportunities for leadership development, education and knowledge exchange, it seeks to amplify voices that can contribute to more inclusive, socially just and connected societies. 

The programme will conclude with an opportunity for selected participants to present their work at a public event or exhibition in Gloucester, sharing their experiences and demonstrating how leadership, culture and dialogue can contribute to stronger communities.
