Our programmes
Our programmes combine leadership development and engagement with UK institutions, as well as individually tailored professional exchange. Together, these elements support Fellows to strengthen their leadership practice, broaden perspectives, build trusted relationships and develop practical approaches to complex challenges.
Our programme approach is based on three interconnected pillars:
1. Transformative Leadership Development
We offer transformative leadership development through learning experiences that combine individual and group-based learning, reflective practice and practical leadership development.
Programmes are delivered online, in the UK and in partner countries across different regions, and are led by professional trainers, facilitators and certified coaches.
The approach combines:
- individual coaching and mentoring
- reflective and experiential practice
- group learning and facilitated dialogue
- peer exchange and collaborative learning
- values-based and adaptive leadership development
This model supports Fellows to strengthen their confidence, resilience, self-awareness and ability to lead constructively in complex environments.
2. Dialogue with UK Institutions and Public Life
Our residential programmes in the UK create opportunities for dialogue and exchange with UK institutions, organisations and communities through meetings, discussions and visits across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The programme encourages critical reflection and mutual learning, creating space to explore how institutions, organisations and communities respond to complex challenges and engage with society in different contexts.
- Visits and engagements may include:
- Media organisations and journalists
- UK Parliament and devolved institutions
- Government departments and public bodies
- Civil society and non-governmental organisations
- Universities, research institutions and think tanks
- Cultural, grassroots and community organisations
Through engagement across different parts of the UK, Fellows explore diverse approaches to governance, participation, leadership and social change, while building relationships and exchanging perspectives with counterparts across sectors and communities.
3. Individually tailored professional programme
During the residential programme, each Fellow takes part in an individually tailored programme meeting professionals relevant to their sector, interests and leadership goals. Elements of this exchange can also take place online before and after the UK visit.
These connections made with UK experts, practitioners and organisations create opportunities for meaningful exchange, practical learning and long-term relationship-building.
Professional exchange may include:
- Individual meetings with UK experts and practitioners
- Tailored introductions to sector-specific organisations and networks
- Peer exchange and collaborative learning within the Fellowship cohort
- Exchanges with policymakers, academics, civil society leaders and professionals
These tailored exchanges strengthen and inform Fellows’ professional practice expanding their networks so they can build trusted relationships that often continue well beyond the fellowship programme itself.

Ideas Exchange Forum
JST has a 30-year history of facilitating discussions and fostering collaborations with people who sometimes have very different backgrounds and points of view. Through our ‘ideas labs’ we bring together our change-makers, sense-makers and trust-builders to generate intersectional, multi-generational and cross-regional insights. And we foster connections to move from reflection to action.
